Two services, one building, and a fair number of answers below that split in two depending on which one you came for.

Which Service You Need, and How to Start

Dr. Meagan Medley does psychological testing and evaluation. That’s a finite process with a start and an end, and it finishes with a feedback session where she walks you through what she found.

Dr. Brent Powell and Jeremiah Andrews do counseling. That’s ongoing work on something you already know you want to change.

Nobody here crosses over. Dr. Medley doesn’t provide therapy, and the counselors don’t run evaluations.

That’s what the consultation is for. Nobody expects you to diagnose your own next step before you’ve talked to anybody.

Sign up online for the free 15-minute consultation, or call the office and leave a message. We’ll get back to you.

Fifteen minutes, no charge. We ask a few background questions, explain how the process works for what you’re describing, and then schedule you with the clinician who makes the most sense.

That’s the whole thing.

What You’re Signing Up For

Counseling sessions run about an hour.

Testing is three separate appointments. The intake is an hour and can be done virtually.

The testing session itself is about three hours, and the feedback session is an hour.

Rating scales, which are structured questionnaires about patterns in your behavior, attention, and emotion. Structured interviewing. The full battery of standardized testing that fits the question you walked in with.

Dr. Medley screens well past the obvious explanation, because attention, anxiety, mood, and trauma overlap enough that stopping at the first thing that fits is how someone ends up with a diagnosis that never explained much. A shorter appointment gets you a faster answer and a less reliable one.

Roughly three to four weeks from intake to feedback when your insurance requires prior authorization, which is the pre-approval some carriers want before testing can begin. Paying out of pocket, the whole thing can be done inside a week.

Report preparation is the part that moves. Two to four weeks when prior authorization is involved, faster when it isn’t.

For testing, about a month. There are four testing providers in this region and most of them book one to two years out, so a month is worth saying out loud.

That’s the wait to get on the calendar. Results run on their own clock.

What You’ll Pay

Blue Cross Blue Shield is our primary insurance panel.

For testing, your benefits get explored and discussed with you, with an estimate provided of what your insurance does and does not cover. Plans vary enough that we check each one individually.

For private pay clients, a flat fee of $2,000 divided across three sessions: intake $300, testing $1,400, and feedback $300.

For pre-adoptive parents, a flat fee of $600 per adult.

If you also want learning concerns examined, such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia, there’s an additional $300 charge, because insurance doesn’t cover those.

Private pay counseling intake is $250. Each session after that is $225.

Maybe!

We can provide a document called a superbill, which carries all the technical billing codes used for your services. You submit it to your insurance yourself, and your insurance decides if and how much it reimburses.

Some services aren’t covered at all, including testing for educational learning concerns and couples therapy.

Cancellations need to happen more than 24 hours ahead, or a fee is charged. That time was held for you, and this late it can’t go to anyone else.

For counseling, a cancellation or no-show is the cost of the session.

For testing, it’s the cost of the intake or feedback session, and $500 for a testing appointment.

The Unserious Section

Nope! But you can if you want to.

We’ve gone out of our way to make sure you can be comfortable.

Only ones with lotion. 100% team lotion in tissues.

Dogs! FYI, allergies have forced this decision.

Book the 15 Minutes

Anything this page didn’t answer is fair game for the consultation. Fifteen minutes, no charge, and by the end of it, you’ll know which of the two services you came for and who you’d be seeing.
